Project Overview
Purpose
This project was created for a fictional client as part of my studies at NAIT.
Task
The fictional client provided me with a document outlining specific wants and requirements for the functionality of the website.
Website requirements included:
- Member sign-in
- Member sign-up - application to join the club
- Administrator management - approve, deny, edit, and remove members/applications
- Administrator management - add, edit and remove club events
- Communication between administration and members
Tools
- Pen + Paper
- Figma
Process
My process for this project started by fully understanding the client's needs and requirements, writing down notes, and outlining the necessary pages for members vs administrators.
Once I fully understood the user flows, I began to sketch on paper the various pages and lay out the website structure and navigation.
After the sketches, I moved onto wireframing and prototyping a low-fidelity design in Figma to bring the idea to life and better understand the functionality and user flow.
Once the design was fully prototyped, I moved onto user testing by recruiting 5 friends (not in web design and development) to test the design and functionality of the site. After receiving feedback, I made further improvements for a better user experience.
The final step of the project, once the low-fidelity wireframe was completed, involved making a style guide for consistent brand and a high-fidelity landing page for users to understand what the Focus Photography Club is and encourage new users to join.
